Prof Laura Fornaro
Prof Laura Fornaro is a leading researcher at the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Uruguay, Uruguay.
She directs a research group working on materials for ionizing radiation detectors. Research topics include the growth of monocrystals for application in radiation spectrometry, as well as the growth of polycrystalline and oriented thick film for digital radiography. Materials of interest are heavy metal halides, like mercuric, lead and bismuth iodides.
In this framework, she is contributing to the present development of the growth of oriented films, especially of heavy metal halides, on amorphous substrates.
She is also engaged on the development and teaching of material matters in a country which has not tradition, but can play an important role in these subjects in South America.
