Professor Koichi Niihara
Professor Niihara is known as a pioneer of strong and multifunctional nanocomposite and cluster/molecular level composites.
He received 16 awards including the Richard M. Fulrath Award (1983), the Ministry Award (1988), and the Distinguished Patent Award (1996). He is the author or coauthor of more than 700 publications, and holds 130 patents. Based on his basic research on nano and nanocomposite ceramics, he now palys important roles in the field of nanotechnology materials not only in Japan but also in other Asian countries. He is a fellow of the American Ceramic Society, and also professors of Hanyang University in Korea, Xi’an Jiaotong University and Wuhan University of Technology, China.
