| Praxair Surface Technologies, a division of Praxair Inc have just introduced their Advanced Powder Technology (APT) range of thermal spray powders. The Advanced Powder Technologies system uses patented technologies to produce completely alloyed powders. The powders have a uniform melting behaviour and high deposition rates. Other features that lead to improved coating deposition and quality include fine carbide structures and spherical morphologies. The Advanced Powder Technologies powders can be deposited using processes such as high velocity oxy-fuel, plasma or flame spray techniques to produce coatings with high wear and corrosion resistances. Powders are available with a variety of chromium carbide and tungsten carbide chemistries, with unique structural, wear and corrosion properties. Furthermore, the Advanced Powder Technologies materials produce coatings with 20-30% improved deposition efficiencies compared to more traditional powders. These gains come with no sacrifice to coating properties. |
