| Metalweb is a leading UK aluminium stockholder and aims to provide a 100% on-time delivery and quality product both for day-to-day requirements and long term contracts. We carry out four key roles in the supply chain that help our customers to perform more cost-effectively: • we hold stock • we carry out first stage processing • we have no minimum quantity • we maintain traceability To help achieve these roles Metalweb has one of the largest ranges of aluminium products in all alloys (including plate, sheet, bar, tube and other extruded products) carried in stock. This means we can often provide 24 hour delivery with fully certified material when required. Aluminium Plate Metalweb carry stock of a wide range of aluminium plate materials in sizes ranging from 50mm x 30mm in size up to and including 6m x 2m in size and thicknesses from 6mm thick to 380mm thick. Metalweb can supply aluminium plate in hard aluminium alloys such as 2XXX and 7XXX series materials as follows. Heat Treatable 2XXX Series Aluminium Alloys • 2014/2024 aluminium alloys are high strength alloys with excellent machinability widely used in aircraft. They have limited formability and only fair corrosion resistance in the heat treated condition. They are not recommended for fusion welding. Typical applications include high strength parts in aircraft and machinery, including gears and bolts and for security vans where strength is critical. Heat Treatable 7XXX Series Aluminium Alloys • 7020 – A good machining quality alloy mainly used on the continent instead of 6082. • 7075 – A very high strength aircraft alloy displaying good machinability and hardness. Not suited for welding or corrosion resistant applications. Aluminium Bar Metalweb carry stock of a wide range of aluminium bar materials including round, square and flat sections in a variety of sizes. Metalweb can supply aluminium bar in hard aluminium alloys such as 2XXX and 7XXX series materials as follows. 2XXX Series Aluminium Alloys • 2011 – The Free Machining Alloy, machines to an excellent finish. It often replaces free machining brass without a change of tooling. The first choice for screw machined parts unless higher strength or more corrosion resistance is required. Aluminium 2011 contains lead and bismuth consequently losing popularity to alternatives. • 2014 – Has a tendency to allow the removal of a greater volume of metal in a single operation for an equivalent standard of finish than 6082. Durability, however, is lower and it needs a protective coating. Machines better in solution treated condition than fully heat treated. Used for machined parts where these characteristics are critical. It is also the most common aerospace extrusion alloy. 7XXX Series Aluminium Alloys • 7075 aluminium is the highest strength bars normally stocked. Not a standard screw machine grade yet produces curled or easily broken chips with good to excellent machined finish. It has high hardness but poor corrosion and welding characteristics. It is suited to machined parts requiring high strength and is mainly used in the aerospace industry. Available in rounds and rectangles. Aluminium Sheet Metalweb carry stock of a wide range of aluminium sheet materials in sizes ranging from 50mm x 30mm in size up to and including 6m x 2m in size and thicknesses from less than 0.5mm up to 6mm thick. Metalweb can supply aluminium sheet in hard aluminium alloys such as 2XXX and 7XXX series materials as follows. Available sections include round tube, square tube, circles and rings. Metalweb can supply aluminium extrusions in hard aluminium alloys such as 2XXX and 7XXX series materials as follows. 2XXX Series Aluminium Alloys • 2014 – Has a tendency to allow the removal of a greater volume of metal in a single operation for an equivalent standard of finish than 6082.
