We can develop a complete ballistic/blast solutions to suit any environment and whatever your requirement for Naval Applications.
Even if your application is not mentioned in the above list, Sigmatex can develop, design and produce a variety of fabrics for all types of ballistic (KE & artillery) and blast threat. Our current program is developing 3D woven structures, unidirectional, different weave construction, multi-angled (-45 to +45) fabrics, hybrids (blending of various materials at the fibre level) to measure the effect of its ballistic (KE & Artillery) and blast performance.
Sigmatex will work in partnership with customers to develop the right material for the right job. Sigmatex have tremendous capabilities at our R&D facilities and would welcome a discussion on potential collaborative projects. Sigmatex will bespoke and co-ordinate with our global partners(Armourers/fibre & Ceramic suppliers/Integrators) to provide a complete solution.
Northrop Grumman is supplied composite structures by Sigmatex for their Nuclear Submarine and more they have used Sigmatex materials to build a destroyer.
Sigmatex High Performance Fabrics for Composite Armour Applications
Sigmatex is qualified to provide S2 glass fabrics certified to AGY's HJ1 specification, but also bespoke carbon Innegra™, Zylon™ and other high performance fibres in woven, multiaxial and 3D formats for composite armour applications.

We have optimised 3D woven structures that have increased performance compared to their direct 2D woven equivalent.
Our composite hybrid program is supported by all the major fibre suppliers and we are working closely with them to meet specific end applications for vehicle armour in 3D e.g. Window Frames, Wheel Arches, Blast Bins, Helicopter Frames and floors.
Ballistic Standards
Sigmatex materials conform to all standards eg MIL STD 662F, CEN, DIN, NIJ, STANAG, BR etc. just let us know which standard you would like us to test to or the threat level your trying to defeat and the weight you are trying to achieve and we can manufacture components to suit.
