Introduction

Permanently bonding porous substrates can be a very difficult task. With the use of adhesive primers and promoters this daunting task can be achieved quickly and easily. The main purpose of adhesive primers and promoters is to enhance the bond strengths to acrylics, ABS, polycarbonates, PPOs, polysulfones, polyesters, styrenics and rigid PVCs. After applying a primer or promoter to the substrate surface the compound is heavily absorbed into the substrate ultimately creating a new surface for the adhesive to bond to. Application should be made to freshly cleaned surfaces, free of dirt, grease and other contaminants to ensure outstanding results.

Adhesive Primer MasterSil 718

MasterSil 718 is a specially formulated silicone primer developed by Master Bond for use with silicone elastomers and sealants to promote adhesion to various difficult-to-bond substrates. It is a one component, low viscosity colorless liquid which can be applied by brushing, wiping or dipping. This high performance primer may be left to dry for up to 24 hours before application of the RTV compound without loss of bonding performance.
