Introduction

Carbon steels are designated by AISI four-digit numbers. They contain only carbon as the major alloying element. 1.2% of manganese, and 0.4% of silicon are present in these steels. They also contain chromium, nickel, copper, aluminium, and molybdenum in small amount. Impurities such as sulfur and phosphorous are also found in these steels.

The following datasheet will discuss in detail about AISI 1074 carbon steel.
