These bearing sensors have also been designed to be used in bearing shoes. The top hat shape enables spring loading using a spring and a retaining ring clip.
The tip of the sensor is inserted into the milled hole, then the retaining ring clip is pushed down to retain the sensor and compress the spring. With the help of these sensors, reliable indication is provided about the bearing condition. This may offer an early warning of oil film breakdown and enable the machine to shutdown and prevent unnecessary damage.
