IGA-100: For the analysis of sorption on carbons, catalysts, zeolites and polymers

The IGA series from Hiden Isochema are advanced analyzers for sorption science. IGA instruments are based on the gravimetric method and provide precise measurements of the dynamics and magnitude of gas and vapor sorption on materials.

The IGA-100 is designed to handle gravimetric mixed gas sorption, as well as single component vapor sorption analysis. The features of the IGA-002 and IGA-003 are powerfully combined in this product. The multiple inlet mass flow controller unit facilitates mixed gas experiments in both flow control and pressure control modes.

The IGA integrates accurate computer-control and measurement of mass change, temperature and pressure to enable 100% automatic and reproducible determination of gas and vapor sorption-desorption isotherms and isobars in varied operating conditions.

Anti-condensation protection to 50ºC is incorporated in the IGA-100, thereby enabling operation with water and a wide range of hydrocarbon vapors. Several sample environment options are provided to allow operation at temperatures from -196 to 1000°C and at pressures ranging from ultra-high vacuum to 20 bar. Using the close-coupled mass spectrometer option, product desorption and basic TGA-MS experiments can be performed.

The flexible IGA-100 has been broadly used for the analysis of sorption on carbons, catalysts, zeolites and polymers.

Typical sorptives:

The basic sorptives are listed below:

  • Water
  • Simple gases (e.g. hydrogen, oxygen, carbon oxides, nitrogen, argon, methane)
  • Alcohols (e.g. butanol, ethanol, isopropyl alcohol, methanol, propanol)
  • Chlorinated compounds (e.g. cyclohexane, chlorobenzene, chloroform, chloroanisole, chlorotoluene)
  • Aromatics (e.g. styrene, benzene, toluene, xylene)
  • Hydrocarbons (e.g. butane, hexane, octane, ethene)

Key Features

The following are the main features of the IGA-100 gravimetric analyzer:

  • Integrated gravimetric single component vapor and mixed gas sorption analyser, with ultra-sensitive microbalance
