Epsilon MODEL 3548COD High Temperature Furnace COD Gages

The 3548COD high temperature furnace COD gages from Epsilon are used in split type materials testing furnaces with a slot for the ceramic rods.

They are strain gaged devices, making them suitable for use with any electronics designed for strain gaged transducers.

These extensometers are water-cooled and furnace bracket mounted, allowing them to operate at 1200°C (2200°F).

The high temperature option enables the gages to handle temperatures up to 1600°C (2900°F). Theses gages are mainly designed for fracture mechanics testing.

These COD gages are mounted on a water-cooled bracket, which is mounted on the furnace side cut-out or with load frame support brackets (optional).

The basic temperature version (to 1200°C) comes with high purity alumina rods, while the high temperature option is supplied with alpha grade silicon carbide rods.

Rods can be customized to suit the specific length required for a particular furnace. Mounting brackets can be combined with the furnace cut-out.

It is recommended that the contact edges on the test sample should be fairly rounded without sharp knife edges for superior performance.

The 3548COD high temperature furnace COD gages are usually connected to a test machine controller. The signal conditioning electronics for the extensometer is basically included with the test machine controller or can be added.

In this case, the extensometer is delivered with a quality connector and wiring to enable direct plugging into the electronics.

In cases where the systems do not have the required electronics, Epsilon offers several solutions, thereby allowing the extensometer output to be connected to chart recorders, data acquisition boards, or other equipment.
