Assay on Wheels
This video shows a patent-pending, mobile precious metal refiner, the Assay on Wheels, which uses a Thermo Niton XRF.
In this refining process, the metal is smelted by pouring the scrapped material into a crucible which is placed on an induction heater. During smelting, platinum head and rings, and palladium are extracted separately from the smelted mix. After extraction, the smelted material is poured into an ingot to form a metal bar. Then the ingot is kept in a water tank for cooling.
The bar is placed on a calibrated scale after drying. Finally, the weight of the bar along with its purity formula and percentage are obtained.
