Miles Chemical, a full line chemical distributor based in Southern California, obtained ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications through support of California Manufacturing Technology Consulting™ (CMTC).
Miles Chemical had previously acquired ISO 9001 certification and the National Association of Chemical Distributor’s Responsible Distribution Process (RDP) verification, making it the only known chemical distributor with all four quality management standards in place.
ISO 14001 is the International Organization of Standardization’s certification for Environmental Management Systems while OHSAS 18001 is the Occupational Health and Safety Advisory Services’ authentication for Health and Safety Management Systems.
“We found ISO 9001 and RDP were important steps to implementing internationally recognized standards into our business processes. IS0 14001 and OHSAS 18001 extend our commitment to the environmental, health, and safety aspects of our business,” says Anthony Miles, President of Miles Chemical. “Many of our customers have quality standards in place whether it be ISO, GMP, NADCAP or their own programs. We want them to know that quality, environmental management, and safety also extends to what comes into their facilities, not only what goes out.”
Miles Chemical, established in 1996 with facilities in Arleta and Anaheim, California, has continued to expand their services to include Chemical Distribution, Environmental services, Chemical Formulating, Blending, Third-party Warehousing/Transportation, Technical Support and Laboratory Services.
CMTC, a private, nonprofit corporation helping Southern California manufacturers become more competitive, assisted Miles Chemical obtain all four certifications.
