Every three years, brazing and soldering professionals, scientists and engineers
gather for the International Brazing and Soldering Conference (IBSC), sponsored
by the American Welding Society (AWS) and ASM
International, the materials information society.
The three-day IBSC conference will be held in Orlando at Walt Disney World
Hilton, April 27-29. A full-day of pre-conference seminars will be held on April
26.
According to the event chairmen, the comprehensive IBSC technical program and
exhibits will give both participants and attendees an opportunity to learn more
about brazing and soldering trends, techniques, products and processes.
Grayson Alexy, IBSC chairman, is the vice president of sales and marketing
for The Prince & Izant Company, a manufacturer of brazing and soldering
products in Cleveland. Alexy is an active member of the AWS C-3 Committee and
serves as chairman of the C3C subcommittee on Education and Safety. He is also
the vice-chairman of the Brazing and Soldering Manufacturing Committee and was
instrumental in the development and launch of an industry web-site (www.brazingandsoldering.com)
in collaboration with renowned expert Robert Peaslee.
Anatol Rabinkin, IBSC co-chair, received his M.S. degree from the Moscow Institute
of Steel and Alloys and his D.Sc. in materials science from the Institute of
Physics of Metals, Soviet Academy of Sciences. In 1974, he became a professor
at Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. Since 1980, Rabinkin has lived in
the U.S. Today, as a Senior Scientist for Metglas Inc., Hitachi Metals, his
specialty is amorphous metals technology. He is a member of AWS C3 Brazing Committee
and presently an American delegate to the International Institute of Welding.
Conference sessions will cover solders and soldering technology; ceramics,
composite and glass joining soldering technology; filler metals; design, testing
and reliability of joints; brazing processing; brazing fundamentals; light metals
joining and new brazing applications.
