Morgan Thermal Ceramics to Promote Superwool Plus and Pyro-Bloc Modules at HRSG Meeting

Published on April 14, 2011 at 10:20 AM

Morgan Thermal Ceramics announces that it will be showcasing its Superwool PlusTM fibers and Pyro-Bloc modules for new construction or retrofitting applications in the heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) market at the Annual Conference & Expo of the HRSG User's Group, which will be held April 4-6, 2011 at Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego, California, Booth #206. The HRSG User's Group helps owners and operators obtain cost-effective service from their power generation equipment.

Superwool PlusTM fiber is 10-20 percent more energy efficient than traditional Refractory Ceramic Fibre (RCF) and any other Alkaline Earth Silicate (AES) insulations. It has significantly lower thermal conductivity and enhanced energy saving properties with much improved handleability. Superwool PlusTM fiber enables users to increase manufacturing process efficiencies and make significant cost savings associated with energy usage.

Superwool PlusTM fiber is a low biopersistent fiber, with no workplace environmental control concerns. Superwool PlusTM fiber meets the criteria for exoneration from classification and labeling regulation in Europe under Nota Q of Directive 67/548/EEC.

Steve Chernack, manager of Applications Engineering for Morgan Thermal Ceramics North America, says that Superwool PlusTM blanket is a great innovation in insulation. "It is by far the best of any blanket in the marketplace, allowing OEMs to design with less thickness or with better insulation for a given thickness." He added, "This low biopersistent fiber is a proven solution in HRSG applications, resulting in a lower cost of installed labor and the possibility of engineering into a smaller footprint, which would result in lower costs for the unit."

Morgan Thermal Ceramics' exclusive Pyro-Bloc modules have set the standard for quality and versatility in furnace lining systems. The only monolithic ceramic fiber modules on the market, Pyro-Bloc modules combine the insulating material advantages of ceramic fiber with rapid furnace installation. The monolithic fiber is easy to cut and fit around openings and modify in the field. In addition, the modules are lightweight, have low heat storage, and provide durable service.
