Composites One has inked a distribution deal to sell Bayer MaterialScience’s polyurethane resin systems to composite component producers across the US.
As per the deal, Composites One will distribute Bayer MaterialScience’s formulated polyurethane systems designed for applications that produce composite parts, especially components produced via the filament winding, resin infusion, vacuum-assisted resin transfer molding, resin transfer molding and pultrusion methods.
The deal does not cover the sales of polyurethane raw materials of Bayer MaterialScience. No additional information about the deal was revealed.
The Vice President of Marketing at Composites One, Greg Shymske stated that the composite market is seeking new materials that deliver distinctive benefits. As the company’s customers have shifted to low-VOC chemistries and closed-mold techniques, Bayer MaterialScience polyurethane products can deliver actual functional and environmental advantages over certain chemistries conventionally used in the production of composites, he said.
Shymske further said that Bayer MaterialScience is the originator of polyurethane chemistry. Composites One now provides Bayer MaterialScience’s established polyurethane resin systems and technical support services, which are backed by Bayer’s vast research & development expertise.
The Head of Bayer MaterialScience’s NAFTA Polyurethanes Marketing Business Unit, Jerry MacCleary commented that Composites One will deliver the polyurethane resin solutions to composite part producers through its 32 strategically-situated stocking and distribution centers.
