Saflex Interlayer Now Available for Architectural Applications

New Saflex DG structural interlayer from Solutia, a performance materials and specialty chemicals company, is now available for laminated glass applications. The material is developed mainly for applications requiring high glass adhesion and enhanced rigidity compared to standard architectural glazing interlayers.

In recent years, the use of laminated glass in the building industry has increased due to the rise in demand for interior and façade applications. The features of Solutia’s new structural interlayer are clarity, edge stability, UV screening and glass containment. The material offers higher structural capacity, design flexibility and it is easy to process. Saflex DG is compatible with other Vanceva and Saflex products. The high stiffness of the interlayer enable laminates to maintain higher uniform loads without any change in glass thickness.

Saflex DG is ideal for applications with heat-strengthened glass, offering an opportunity to design the glass with minimal optical distortion. It decreases the possibility for breakage and facilitates view-through ability after breakage.

Saflex DG strucxtural interlayer has several applications, including structural glass, overhead glazing, curtain wall, captured systems, lip systems, point glazing systems, canopies, balconies, stairs, floors and exposed edge laminates. The material can also be used in more focused areas, such as bonding of glass to a spall coating, in bullet-resistant glazing and in mass transit applications.
