Exova Metech Signs Deal to be Vestas' Preferred Supplier of Calibration Services

Exova Metech, the calibration and metrology division of Exova, the global testing, calibration and advisory services provider, has won an outsourcing deal with the leading wind turbine manufacturer, Vestas, to become its preferred supplier of calibration services.

Exova Metech will now acquire the Vestas in-house calibration capability, which will see the transfer of technology assets and an initial 18 skilled personnel as part of a long-term agreement to be the sole provider of calibration services across the globe.

Exova Metech, which itself has over 15 years’ experience in wind turbine calibration, has acquired operations in Lem, Denmark and Denver, USA and has agreed to acquire a calibration operation in China later in 2014.  The deal gives Exova Metech the ability to extend its support to the Vestas business, as well as growing its global footprint and creating opportunities with new and existing customers worldwide.

The move comes about as a result of a long-term relationship between the two companies and the ability of Exova Metech to apply its flexible operating model to meet directly the needs of Vestas.

Hans Åberg, managing director of Exova Metech, comments: “Our deal with Vestas confirms our position as one of the leading providers of technically demanding services to the wind turbine industry. This move underlines our ability to deliver flexible solutions for customers as well as our ambitions to extend our global footprint through strategic acquisitions and alliances.”

Nicola Gianluca Raimondi, senior manager QSE incident management and head of calibration at Vestas comments: “We have worked with Exova Metech for many years and this deal secures the best calibration partner for our business.  By outsourcing our calibration services, we can better focus on our core activities while maintaining the highest levels of technical service in this critical discipline.”
