Free Webinar on Modern XRF Equipment for Cement Processing

PANalytical, the world’s leading supplier of analytical instrumentation and software for X-ray and related techniques, announces their free webinar on Modern XRF equipment for cement processing on 14 April 2016, presented by Harald van Weeren, segment manager building materials, PANalytical B.V., The Netherlands.

Elemental analysis using X-ray fluorescence techniques has been an essential tool in the cement industry for years. Feedback using the elemental composition in the various stages of the process is key for the production of constant and high quality cement.

Sampling points range from the quarry, to raw mix, hot meal, clinker, additions and on to the analysis of the final cement. In addition to that, alternative fuels are commonly used and these bring additional elements into the production process. Knowledge of the chemical composition of these alternative fuels is therefore essential.

Wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence (WDXRF) is the mostly used method for determining the elemental composition in the cement making process. This technique is characterized as fast and with good lower limits of detection. Energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) on the other hand is characterized by its compact design and limited infrastructural needs. Both techniques have undergone significant innovations over the years. Examples of these innovations are the improved resolution of Na for accurate analysis using and EDXRF technique and combining WDXRF and EDXRF techniques to achieve significantly improved throughput.

In this webinar we will give an overview how the various innovations benefit the elemental analysis of cement and its intermediate products throughout the cement making process. The webinar will include a live question and answer session for our attendees.
