Industrial Nanotech's Nansulate Coating Prevents Critical Computer Shutdowns

Industrial Nanotech, Inc. (Pink Sheets:INTK), an emerging global leader in nanotechnology based energy saving solutions, today announced that the Company’s patented Nansulate® energy saving protective coating was successfully used to solve the problem of computer shutdowns due to high temperatures in a building of the IMSS (Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social - Social Security Administration).

The Company’s patented Nansulate® HomeProtect Clear Coat liquid insulation was used on the roof of the Cenati location in Monterrey. This location houses the data computers which maintain electronic health records and make up the information interchange between clinics and hospitals. The coatings were used to stop these critical computer systems from shutdown due to high temperatures. The application of the coating to the roof of the computer center effectively reduced interior temperature to a safe level for the systems, reducing the temperature by an average of 27%, and stopped equipment shut down due to excess temperature.

The application was done by Nansulate® distributor in Mexico, Distribuidora Nano de America S.A. de C.V. in 2009, and readings were taken of the interior at the ceiling of the building in July 2009 and July 2010 as comparison. Previously the computers would shut down at a temperature of 26 deg. C (78.8 deg. F), and after application of three coats (approximate dry film thickness of 7 mils) the room temperature stays below 22 deg. C (71.6 deg. F). The average decrease in measured temperature at the ceiling of the building was 27%.

“This case study is an important showcase of the efficiency of Nansulate® coating technology in building envelope applications,” explained Francesca Crolley, V.P. of Business Development for Industrial Nanotech, Inc. “There are many similar applications like this one at the Mexican Social Security Administration, where even though rooms are air conditioned, heat from the exterior can cause significant problems for the equipment and electronics. Nansulate® provides highly effective insulation in a thin coating, increasing the energy efficiency of buildings. It is easily painted onto multiple surfaces such as roofs, ceilings, walls, and equipment to inhibit heat transfer, while also protecting surfaces. We’re pleased that our technology has provided a significant solution for protection of critical data systems from overheating and for improved sustainability and energy efficiency of the building.”
