The Aqualog Identifies Dissolved Organic Matter in Water Faster than Existing Fluorescence Methods

Identifying and quantifying natural and man-made colored dissolved organic matter components is a crucial problem in understanding water quality. This measurement requires the collection of both the fluorescence and absorbance spectra of the sample.

To address this need, HORIBA Scientific introduces the Aqualog, the only instrument to simultaneously measure both absorbance spectra and fluorescence Excitation-Emission Matrices (EEMs).

The instrument features include:

  • a 150 watt xenon lamp
  • a double excitation monochromator for superior stray light rejection
  • a photodiode for absorbance spectra and
  • a TE cooled CCD for collection of rapid emission spectra.

Easy to use software and a full suite of NIST traceable validation test make the Aqualog a turnkey tool for water research.
