Compliance Packaging International (CPI) has declared that it is supplying reusable metal pallets for warehouses, since plastic and wooden pallets are no longer preferred.
In order to support sustainable corporate efforts and increase return on investment, firms are shifting to steel pallets. Managers and executives of warehouses and operations have found that their supply chain is enhanced by metal pallets.
Steve Klinkefus, President of CPI, stated that most of their customers are planning to substitute wood and plastic pallets with metal pallets in their warehouse applications. He mentioned that the metal pallets are durable and affordable. In addition, metal pallets reduce product destructions inside the facilities and avoid wreckage caused by damaged wood and plastic pallets.
Metal pallets offer high return on investment owing to their durability and reduced cost. Eventually, the cost per trip of a reusable metal pallet is less than a wood and plastic pallets as metal pallets can be used for a longer period of time.
Other than minimizing costs, companies have understood the ecological and security advantages of metal pallets. Broken plastic pallets cannot be restored, whereas steel pallets can be restored several times for an extended lifecycle. Metal pallets offer similar durability as galvanized steel.
Wood and plastic pallets pose fire threats in warehouse operations. Steel pallets are non- flammable and do not include splinters. They generate minimum wreckage and minimize workplace injuries.
In contrast to wood and plastic pallets, metal pallets minimize product loss events during transfer. Major firms have utilized the metal distribution pallet measuring 48”x40” for over 18 months with less than 3% of loss rates. The static load capacity of a 48”x40”single metal distribution pallet is 40,000 lbs. Its dynamic load capacity is 10,000 lbs with 4 entry points. In addition, the metal pallet is welded using robotic machines and it does not include any clamps or nails for enhanced reliability.
In an open edge racking system, certain types of steel pallet can hold around 3,500 pounds. Tailored metal pallets can also be availed for operations demanding specific dimensions and performance. CPI also provides aluminum pallets and containers and stainless steel pallets for sterile environments.
