The American Chemistry Council (ACC) has bestowed two Responsible Care Energy Efficiency Awards to SABIC Innovative Plastics, an international supplier of thermoplastic solutions, in recognition of its commitment towards sustainable initiatives.
SABIC Innovative Plastics’ resin manufacturing facility in Mount Vernon, Indiana was recognized for major production enhancement. The unit was redesigned to optimize and streamline the resin purifying process, which resulted in maximum power savings and minimum utilization of steam. In addition, ACC’s “Exceptional Merit” title was awarded to SABIC’s plastics manufacturing facility in Selkirk, New York.
Mike Walsh, SABIC Innovative Plastics’ General Manager operations, said that the company mainly focuses on sustainability and was delighted to receive these prestigious awards. The recognition is for attaining significant reductions in carbon dioxide emissions and energy usage.
The resin production enhancements at the Mount Vernon operation had decreased CO2 emissions and power usage in 2010. Similarly, SABIC Innovative Plastics’ Selkirk facility has reduced both CO2 and energy emissions by using new steam turbine generator.
