Innovez, a Chicago-based firm, has selected Bayer MaterialScience’s Makrolon 2605 polycarbonate for the iPhone 4 protective slider case. Innovez has developed a stylish and sustainable slider case to protect smartphones from damage.
The company has been looking for a material that can resist breakage and withstand daily use and finally selected the Makrolon 2605 polycarbonate plastic for the iPhone 4 case. This material can withstand scrapes and bumps.

Innovez has developed a protective slider case for the iPhone 4 that is both stylish and sustainable.
The major factors that led to the selection of Bayer MaterialScience’s resin were its Fantasia Color and Special Effects Technologies and better balance of engineering properties. The Makrolon 2605 has excellent dimensional stability and impact strength and also preserves its properties across a broad temperature range. The polycarbonate plastic features a mold release additive, which increases the processing efficiency. The material is ideal for applications in a wide range of industries, including electronics, consumer products, building and construction, optical devices, lighting and automotive. The Fantasia Color and Special Effects Technologies from Bayer MaterialScience provides lively color palette to Innovez’s Phone 4 glider case.
The Makrolon 2605 resin is combined with Ecopure biodegradable additive during the injection molding technique. The molded case part measures 4.67x2.48x0.55”.
The performance of the Makrolon resin was better than expected. By partnering with Bayer MaterialScience, Innovez designers were able to combine unique creativity with vibrant colors to achieve a stylish look. The slider case from Innovez is available in blue, pink, clear, black, orange and green colors. The case has a high-gloss finish that provides a personal style yet protects the phones, while minimizing environmental impact.
