SGL Group, a carbon company, has expanded its footprint in India by opening a new production facility in Pune. The facility will manufacture graphite-based components such as columns and heat exchangers for the chemical sector.

The new production facility is constructed at the Ranjangaon industrial area in Pune. It took ten months to complete the construction work.

The Pune plant will produce products that have been continuously developed for years and custom-made to meet the customer needs in the Indian market. The facility will process the semi-finished products, which is supplied from other SGL Group’s locations. In addition, the facility will serve as an after-sales & service hub in the future. The products made from BA Graphite Materials & Systems (GMS) are utilized extensively in the pharmaceutical, chemical, pump, solar and glass manufacturing industries.

The company has made significant investments in new production facilities. ECOPHIT cooling ceiling components from SGL Group are utilized in the new office structure to support the air conditioners. Gerd Wingefeld, SGL Group’s member of the Board of Management, stated that the current investment will expand the company’s production base for specialty graphite products in India. The production capacity expansion highlights the company’s goal to serve regional markets via regional production infrastructure.

India is one of the fastest growing markets in the worldwide chemical industry. The country is known for high production standards and skilled professionals and in addition, there is a rapid increase in spending capacity, which leads to energy demand.
