CoorsTek, a manufacturer of technical ceramics, has reported that it has acquired the Germany-based ANCeram.

Insulators, ceramic substrates and structural parts for use in automotive, aerospace, marine, laser and railway industries are manufactured by ANCeram, which is mainly popular for its comprehensive range of specialty aluminum nitrides.

ANCeram was formed in the year 1988. The company previously focused on developing an alternative product in order to replace beryllium oxide that was ecologically challenging. ANCeram is working with many independent research centers and European universities and created its eco-friendly aluminum nitride (AlN) ceramic. Besides the company’s knowledge in AIN, aluminas, ceramic metallization, ceramic-to-metal bonding, copper-to-ceramic brazing abilities and silicon nitrides are provided by ANCeram. The parts for coolers, heat exchangers, diodes, insulators, high-temperature boats and crucibles, power electronics and other multi-material elements are included in the products.

According to Dr. Dieter Brunner from ARCeram, the company is delighted to combine with CoorsTek. It is expecting to widen a variety of materials in order to solve difficulties of customer.

CoorsTek’s CEO, Mark Chenoweth stated that this purchase has made CoorsTek to extensively extend the abilities of aluminum nitride ceramic. CoorsTek has announced the addition of a third Germany plant with the continuous expansion of materials, products, and service, he added.
