Thimble Removal Presses for Anode Rod Stubs from VHE

Published on May 27, 2012 at 9:09 PM

As part of the rod cleaning process, cast iron thimbles are removed from anode rod stubs.

VHE of Iceland manufactures several designs of hydraulically operated thimble removal presses. In rodding plants with a fast overhead conveyor VHE proposes various configurations of multi-thimble presses, each able to remove all thimbles simultaneously from a rod yoke.

Where the rodding plant operates with slower cycle times VHE offers a single thimble removal press. Each stub may be presented in turn until all thimbles have been removed, or multiple presses may be installed for increased throughput.

VHE's single thimble press is a compact hydraulically powered machine able to exert up to 200 tonnes of dynamic force to remove single thimbles from the yoke assembly.

Operation is fully automatic with manual options for test and maintenance purposes.
