Toho Tenax has announced that the company and Hindoostan Technical Fabrics will jointly produce and market carbon fiber fabrics for the composite industry in India. This is the first time, where Toho has collaborated with an Indian textile producer
According to the partnership terms, Toho’s own Tenax carbon fiber will be provided to Hindoostan for weaving and processing the fabrics into quality textiles. Both the companies will market the products to reinforced sheets and composite materials manufacturer. The companies’ partnership will mainly target the composite industry in India, which serves many industrial domains like transportation, including aerospace, automotive and railway, medical equipment, wind power, construction reinforcement and retrofitting, electronics, and other industrial applications that need advanced solutions, based on carbon fiber.
Toho Tenax has found that the carbon fiber market of the nations holds significant potential and hence it is planning to fulfill the continuing demand for high-valued intermediate material from a range of customers.
Toho Tenax’s President and Teijin’s head for carbon fibers and composites business, Norio Kamei stated that through this partnership, Toho will secure a stronger position in the Indian market. The company has an objective to establish Tenax textile fabric as a premium product in the composite market of India.
The composite industry in India has achieved a stronger growth of approximately 20% annually, over the past five years. Toho’s Tenax carbon fiber textile has been utilized in various composite products like automotive parts, machine tools and medical machinery, wind-turbine generator blades. According to Teijin’s growth plan, India is one of the most strategic markets in the present scenario.
