W. R. Grace, a supplier of catalysts, engineered and packaging materials and specialty construction chemicals and building materials, has completed the acquisition of Industria e Comercio de Aditivos, a Brazilian producer of concrete admixtures.
Rheoset manufactures high quality concrete admixtures using proprietary concrete technologies that improve the concrete performance and help deliver superior quality and longer lasting buildings. The technologies also support the company’s customers to achieve better productivity and efficient production. The acquisition of Brazilian firm expands the production capacity at Recife and Rio de Janeiro, which supplement existing operations of Grace at Bahia and Sorocaba.
Craig Merrill, Grace Construction Products’ VP and General Manager, Americas, stated that the addition of Rheoset’s product range to Grace’s concrete admixture product portfolio offers several benefits to customers. This purchase will increase the speed of product and technology development based on customer needs. Thus, it helps create innovative customer solutions as well as new value in this field in a rapid manner, remarked Merril.
According to Grace Construction Products’ President, Andrew Bonham, the purchase is part of the company’s growth strategy in high margin segments and its investment in production capacity to better serve the emerging regions. Bonham added that it also helps extend the Grace’s brand in its core business segments.
