Microsanj Co-founder Selected to be SEMI-THERM 2014 Recipient of THERMI Award

Dr. Ali Shakouri, Microsanj Co-founder and Chairman of the Advisory Board, has been selected to be the SEMI-THERM 2014 recipient of the THERMI award in recognition of his contributions to the field of semiconductor device and systems thermal issues.

Dr. Shakouri is the Mary Jo and Robert L. Kirk Director of the Birck Nanotechnology Center and Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University. He received his Ph.D. from the California Institute of Technology in 1995. A recognized leader in the field of nanotechnology, his current research is on nanoscale heat and current transport in semiconductor devices, high resolution thermal imaging, micro refrigerators, and waste heat recovery. In 2007 Dr. Shakouri co-founded Microsanj to develop and commercialize advanced high resolution thermal imaging systems for the semi-conductor industry. He currently serves as Chairman of the Technical Advisory Board for Microsanj.

"I am greatly honored by this recognition from SEMI-THERM," said Dr. Ali Shakouri, "and wish to acknowledge the support and contributions from students, postdoctoral researchers, and colleagues at the Birck Nanotechnology Center and Microsanj Corporation for helping to make this award possible."

The THERMI Award will be awarded to Dr. Shakouri at the 30th Annual Semiconductor Thermal Measurement, Modeling and Management Symposium, Thursday, March 13 at the Doubletree Hotel in San Jose, California.

About Birck Nanotechnology Center:

The Birck Nanotechnology Center at Purdue University leverages advances in nanoscale science and engineering to create innovative nanotechnologies addressing societal challenges and opportunities in computing, communications, the environment, security, energy independence, and health. In turn, the Center exploits the accelerating progress in nanotechnology utilizing the most advanced nanoscale instrumentation to pursue answers to fundamental questions in the life and physical sciences. The interplay between these two complementary arcs of inquiry fosters a stimulating interdisciplinary environment for discovery that will engage us well into the 21st century.
