Air Products Earns Coveted Award for Dynol 960 and 980 Superwetting Surfactants

Air Products, a leading global supplier of performance materials, has recently won the 2014 Ringier Technology Innovation Awards for the Coating Industry in China for its Dynol 960 and Dynol 980 superwetting surfactants.

As a global leader of water-based technology for specialty additives, Air Products has received this prestigious award for the fourth consecutive year.

Designed to maximize wetting of difficult-to-wet substrates for a wide range of aqueous formulations, the innovative, award-winning siloxane-based Dynol 960 and Dynol 980 superwetting surfactants can help formulators to meet increasingly stringent environmental standards and improve product performance. They provide a superior balance of properties including both equilibrium and dynamic wetting, system compatibility and low foam, compared to traditional siloxane surfactants. While bringing the advantages of containing no added hazardous air pollutants (HAPs), alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEs) or volatile organic compounds (VOCs), Dynol 960 and Dynol 980 surfactants provide exceptional performance in high-quality waterborne wood coatings, plastic coatings, metal coatings and printing inks.

Michael Zhou, Asia marketing manager of Air Products’ Specialty Additives, represented the company to receive the recognition at the awards ceremony in Shanghai. “We are honored to have received this prestigious award again. Dynol 960 and Dynol 980 surfactants are a technological breakthrough resulted from our deep knowledge of the coating industry and our customers’ needs combined with our 40+ years’ experience in material science and surface chemistry. As a pioneer in water-based technology, we will continue to develop innovative and sustainable solutions to help our customers address challenges in water-based formulations.”

Organized by Ringier Trade Media, the Ringier Technology Innovation Awards was launched in 2006 and are regarded as one of the most important awards in China’s coating industry to recognize significant contributors who have made contributions for the advancement of industry through technological innovation, efficiency improvements, or creating a new marketing opportunity.

This year, 60 nominating products from 40 different multinationals and domestic players competed for the awards. The independent panel of judges comprising experts from China's authoritative associations, universities and research institutes eventually recognized 25 innovative products across 7 different categories: resins, pigments, additives, green paints, emulsions, equipments and technologies. Air Products’ Dynol 960 and Dynol 980 surfactants were selected as one of the winners in the category of additives.
