General Plastics and CSI of Virginia, Inc. to Co-Exhibit at Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) Convention September 29-October 1, 2014

Polyurethane foam leader General Plastics will spotlight thermal insulation blocks for precast/tilt-up wall panels, continuum of custom-cut structural thermal isolation solutions.

Polyurethane innovator General Plastics Manufacturing Company will feature its high-density foam precast/tiltup concrete wall panel block for load-bearing walls at the 2014 Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) Convention. The premier conference and exhibition for the global tilt-up concrete construction industry takes place September 29-October 1 in San Jose, California at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel. During its debut appearance at TCA, General Plastics will showcase its structural thermal isolation blocks at Booth 24 with construction products distributor CSI of Virginia, Inc.

General Plastics’ precast/tilt-up concrete wall panel blocks prevent thermal energy transfer between the building and ground when installed under load-bearing precast, tilt-up, brick and block walls. They are part of the company’s LAST-A-FOAM® R-9300 Continuous Insulation Block Series, which extends a building insulation envelope from the roof to the foundation while supporting heavy structural loads.

“We are delighted to introduce the tilt-up concrete industry to these insulated structural blocks and our comprehensive solutions to applications requiring thermal isolation,” said General Plastics President Bruce Lind. “In response to customer needs, we have developed a full range of custom-cut insulating polyurethane blocks that outperform other materials and may contribute credits to LEED certification of projects.”

In addition to its tilt-up/precast concrete wall panel blocks, the R-9300 Continuous Insulation Block Series addresses the full spectrum of applications for industrial and cold-storage buildings. As demonstrated in this YouTube video,General Plastics offers the following products:

  • Structural Thermal Isolation Column Block – designed to support heavy structural loads while maintaining thermal control within building interiors
  • LAST-A-FOAM® R-9320 IMP Thermal Floor Reinforcement Block – cost-effectively supports shelving and provides a thermal break within floor panels of insulated walk-in coolers and freezers
  • Tank Isolation Protection Block – reduces condensation by thermally isolating chiller equipment from its supporting structure
  • Canopy/Mansard Support Block – creates a thermal barrier for metal canopy or mansard supports at structural penetrations
  • Roof Equipment Support Block – supports HVAC and other heavy equipment on building roofs while preventing radiant heat transfer to the building interior
  • Perimeter Fall-Protection Block – serves as a key component of a commercial or industrial roof safety system

PROVEN THERMAL SOLUTIONS OUTPERFORM OTHER MATERIALS

General Plastics’ Continuous Insulation Blocks, including its precast/tilt-up concrete panel wall blocks, are made of high-density rigid cellular polyurethane material. The foam’s closed-cell structure is inert and prevents absorption of moisture, so it does not rot or dissolve in subgrade applications, or promote corrosion of steel components. These construction blocks combine high compressive strength with minimal deflection and Page 2/3 If you have any questions regarding information in these press releases please contact the company listed in the press release. Their proven energy efficiency and durability make these thermal insulating blocks a cost-effective investment for long-term applications.

LAST-A-FOAM® R-9300 Continuous Insulation Blocks arrive on-site ready to install. Blocks are custom manufactured to specific job requirements and can be predrilled with anchor-bolt holes. What’s more, the lead time from order approval to on-site delivery is just 10 days or less.

“Proven performance and fast turnaround are critical success factors for tilt-up construction,” Lind added. “We look forward to meeting industry leaders at TCA with our partner CSI, and exploring opportunities to satisfy their needs for high-quality insulated structural solutions that extend from below ground to the roof. Customers will also appreciate CSI’s technical expertise and responsive service in helping them choose, spec and use the right LAST-A-FOAM® 9300 Continuous Insulation Blocks for their specific application and project.
