Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum Offers Complete Pumping Systems for Architectural Glass

Within the various application of coatings for architectural glass and large area coatings as such, the demand for high-quality functional glass is soaring, especially for Low-E glass in functional combinations with other glass types.

The requirements for the manufacturing of such quality glasses are high and heavily dependent on the quality of the vacuum processes involved. Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum has been partnering customers in large area and architectural glass coating with an immense know-how in thin film deposition. At the Glasstec Exhibition in Duesseldorf, Germany, Hall 12, Booth F37, customers are invited to update their knowledge on optimized vacuum systems.

The glass industry at home and abroad is faced with ever growing challenges with regard to production technology, production control, quality assurance, logistics, and service. Production of these modern products which the market now demands, must be energy saving and efficient, in line with the growing demands for green production. The architectural glass industry can only meet these challenges through a high degree of cost effective manufacturing processes supported by intelligent software solutions.

Consistently top performer

“For decades, we have been supplying the industry with vacuum systems for these special applications. As pioneers in vacuum technology, we set standards. The performance of our vacuum pumps is constantly growing in accordance with the requirements, modern technology is placing on the glass industry. Solar thermy, electro chromic glass, LED Systems, anti-reflective coatings, integrated PV - we are a reliable business partner worldwide and offer increasing value with innovative industrial solutions,” states Dr. Martin Fuellenbach, CEO of Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum. “Our focus is to contribute to an energy efficient future.”

Improving System Output

Specialized products of Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum cover the fore vacuum and the high vacuum range of the production chain. Within the fore vacuum components, SOGEVAC oil sealed rotary vane pumps offer improved production output. For covering the fore vacuum field with dry technology, RUVAC WH roots blowers and DRYVAC screw type vacuum pumps optimize cost of ownership and show an excellent performance on short cycle load lock processes and at process chambers, as fore vacuum systems for magnetically levitated turbo molecular pumps. Minimizing maintenance, servicing efforts and with a small footprint, these pumps form the basis for vacuum solutions encompassing also high vacuum pumps such as the proven MAGiNTEGRA range of magnetically levitated turbo molecular pumps. Their established, field proven reliability at low operation are a clear incentive to upgrade coaters with modern, energy efficient vacuum solutions. These dry technology pump series also offer variants with modern communication options. “The future lies in the intelligence of the components used to build up systems,” explains Michael Steininger, Head of Global Accounts, “the chance to control and monitor the pumps makes plug & play possible and facilitates optimization of the production process. This is really a cost advantage.”
