Advion's expression CMS was developed with academic chemistry program input, and with its over 20 years of mass spectrometry and chemistry expertise; the system was introduced less than three years ago during the American Chemical Society's Spring National Meeting in San Diego. Further to this accomplishment is that 15 of the top 20 USA programs use the CMS, as well as hundreds of other small academic sites for research and teaching.

Advion's success and standing in the academic sector is highlighted in a recent report on the single quadrupole MS market by Strategic Directions International (SDi). The report uses a Net Promoter Score (NPS) to rate all the SQ MS suppliers – essentially a measure of the level of satisfaction of a company's customers and how likely they would be to recommend the company to a friend or colleague. Overall, Advion's NPS was by far the highest of any company and 50% higher than the closest rival. In the academic sector it was a peerless 100% compared to the nearest single quadrupole mass spec vendor at 27%.
