JEC Powers New Fibre Composite and Light-Weight Construction Trade Fair

The new fibre composite and light-weight construction trade fair “Experience Composites – powered by JEC” will take place in Augsburg between 21st and 23rd September 2016 for the first time. The creators of the event, Messe Augsburg, the JEC Group and Carbon Composites e.V. are working with great passion, meticulousness and high demands towards creating a trail-blazing event for the growing composites market. The offer has already been greatly welcomed. A range of renowned companies, both domestic and from abroad, have already declared their intention to attend. The event will showcase composites companies and applications in two halls with around 10,000 m2 and will involve strong exhibitors positioned according to application.

Composites world: Welcome to Augsburg

In September 2016, Augsburg and Bavarian-Swabia will be welcoming composites professionals, decision-makers and experts from around the world. This event will bring together large concerns, medium-sized companies, start-ups and potential users of fibre composite materials and, for this reason, emphasis is being placed on application knowledge and innovative impulses. “Experience Composites” will help to further develop the composites industry, research and science, in conjunction with the exhibitors and visitors. Current and new applications, innovations, ideas and pilot projects from the fibre composite world are to be made tangible and experienced, in accordance with the name “Experience Composites”.

Unique bundling of fibre composites knowledge and expertise

The Bavarian-Swabian region characterises a bundling of companies that employ composites, along with research facilities, scientific institutes, associations and networks in the composites world and is thus unique throughout Europe. On this basis, “Experience Composites” will encourage the transfer of knowledge related to composite materials and product developments by incorporating visits to companies, users, and scientific institutes. “Experience Composites” has declared its clear intent and brand core, to become the personal composites experience marketplace in Europe.

A new and unique event format: Multiple locations

With the aim of setting composites in scene as the material of the future, a new event format has been developed especially for “Experience Composites”: the multiple-location format. Fibre composite materials are to be demonstrated and detailed from a variety of angles. The further development of this high-growth sector and the experience orientation are thus to be emphasised. “Experience Composites” is designed to generate new impulses for fibre composite materials as well as associated value-added processes. Alongside the trade fair to be housed in two halls in Augsburg, there will also be two congresses accompanying the trade fair, visits to companies and scientific establishments (“Science Shuttles”), an attractive training programme as well as meetings at cultural highlights in and around Augsburg to enable networking and the preparation and conclusion of business deals.

Multiple-year analysis and investigation phase

“Over the course of a number of years, we have analysed the international composites and light-weight construction market carefully, and we have spoken to a very large number of companies throughout the entire value-added chain, including many medium-sized companies. Only then did we decide to go ahead with our ambitious project. With the new multiple-location format, we have successfully managed to map the desires and requirements of our customers. We are sure that this approach will further the composites sector. Mentors from science and companies for the various sectors within our event will ensure the highest quality of representation, exhibits and messages”, says Philip Häußler, head of the “Experience Composites” project.

The heart of the multiple-location event: The trade fair itself

The heart of the multiple-location event is the trade fair itself which forms the focal point of the new personal composites experience market place. One hall of the “Experience Composites” is dedicated to fibre composites and light-weight construction added-value. “Value-adding islands” for the manufacturing phase, cross-process sectors (quality management, control, software, IT etc.), the “end of life” phase (recycling, re-use), and the “Science, education, research and consulting” sectors all structure the value-added chain of the composites industry. The second hall will present six “industry showrooms” (machines and system construction, automotive and transport, aviation and space, construction and infrastructure, wind energy and medical technology) in which the exhibits, news, innovations and pilot projects for the key composites B2B sectors are displayed.

The congresses: Transfer of knowledge and innovative spirit

Accompanying congresses with national and international speakers will detail the news and opportunities surrounding composite materials. Speakers and presentations from six sectors and from the entire composites process chain will provide information and answers to all the key composites areas in the B2B sector on the basis of the successful “Fachtagung Carbon Composites”. A programme committee led by the “Carbon Composites e.V.“ safeguards the latest knowledge and selects the best contributions for the knowledge, expertise and networking of the “Experience Composites“ branches. Special congresses complete the congress programme. Alexander Gundling, Chief Executive Officer of Carbon Composites e.V.: “In the coming year, we are expanding our Fachtagung Carbon Composites and incorporating it into a very future-oriented, new trade fair format. In conjunction with the Messe Augsburg and the JEC Group, we wish to offer our members, visitors and exhibitors a convention with the best possible value”.

The company visits: Insights and overviews

A variety of companies working within the composites industry are located in and around Augsburg. As an enhancement to your visit to the “Experience Composites”, visits to leading companies in the Augsburg region will also be offered.

The scientific excursions

The Augsburg region is also one of the international scientific, research and development centres for light-weight construction and fibre composites. “Experience Composites” is offering visits to the Fraunhofer Institut für Chemische Technologie (Fraunhofer ICT), the Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (German centre for aviation and space travel), the Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaften (University of Applied Sciences) and the University of Augsburg. The event also showcases the recently created “Augsburg Innovationspark”, a cluster of companies and research institutes with a focus on light-weight construction which is located close to the Messe Augsburg.

The training sessions: Practical impulses

Visitors and exhibitors have the opportunity to complement their visit to the “Experience Composites” further and expand their knowledge. Training sessions regarding thermo-plastic fibre-plastic composites, technical English for composites specialists or innovative material solutions for mechanical engineering are just a part of the selected training programme. A particular highlight is the seminar on Change Management in the use of carbon components.

The fringe events: Initiating networks and business deals

In accordance with the motto “Augsburg and Bavarian-Swabia welcome the international composites community”, “Experience Composites” invites visitors to join in with events and cultural highlights in and around Augsburg. The event also opens up, for example, the Golden Room in the Augsburg Town Hall, the textile museum and one of the oldest breweries in the world.
