UltraTech International have announced the selection of its new superhydrophobic fabric protection, EverShield, for the Material ConneXion library. The company is a leader in the environmental compliance sector, and in specialty fabric coatings market.
A team consisting of respected jurors and employees of Material ConneXion selected to display EverShield in Material ConneXion's premier library in New York City, and also on the online Material ConneXion's database.
With seven international service locations, Material ConneXion is the world's biggest membership-based library of innovative, unique, and sustainable materials. Every month, 40 to 50 new materials make their entry to the Material ConneXion library, after review and evaluation based on specific criteria.
EverShield repels food, water, oil, and other solutions, and is a durable omni repellant (DOR). DORs have evolved from DWRs, as DWR fabrics can only repel water. In DORs a polymer coating is provided by the fabric protection mechanism, which encloses all fibers of the material, considerably increasing its durability through an intricate, protective matrix. The performance levels of long chain fluorocarbons are maintained by the polymer coating while using a more acceptable six-carbon fluoropolymers.
EverShield makes use of an environment-friendly formula using C6 chemistry, it is also water-based with no VOCs. In contrast to some DWRs, EverShield-treated fabrics are washable at standard temperature conditions. There is no need for super-heated wash or drying cycles to maintain oleophobicity or superhydrophobicity, this eventually leads to reduced energy consumption and operating costs. EverShield performs better than DWRs for repelling water and ice, as well as oils, mud, food products, concrete and aqueous solutions.
