Major companies have placed these orders, including those from the industrial, consumer electronics, defense, aerospace, and healthcare sectors. They will utilize the Aerosol Jet 5X printing system to produce 3D printed electronics equipment for smart devices, in a versatile and cost-effective way. Such smart devices are mainly utilized in Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

Optomec has specifically developed the Aerosol Jet 5X system to promote high performance, lightweight smart devices for industrial and consumer IoT applications. Today’s smart devices demand tightly integrated circuitry, such as sensors and 3D antennas. These devices have become universal within the aerospace, automotive, defense, consumer electronics, power generation, and healthcare sectors. In fact, these applications are estimated to grow increasingly in the near future.

The Aerosol Jet 5X System is fitted with a 5-axis coordinated motion platform. It offers a versatile and cost-efficient platform to produce integrated electronics with a range of metal, ceramic, and plastic 3D structures.

With the Aerosol Jet 5X system we expect to iterate quickly to provide optimized 3D printed electronic solutions enabling engineers to create smaller, lighter, and more efficient products.

In addition, the Aerosol Jet 5X system uses Optomec’s patented material input and aerodynamic deposition capabilities to print features measuring 10 µm up to millimeters in width. The 3D printer also supports different functional materials, such as dielectrics, conductive inks, adhesives and polymers, and is capable of depositing these materials on substrates of low temperature, providing immense scope for a wide range of applications. The Aerosol Jet 5X system is also a scalable technology, making it suitable to meet large-scale production needs.

We are pleased to see the rapid adoption of our recently introduced Aerosol Jet 5X system by multiple companies across a variety of industries. This solution is enabling next generation 3D electronics in ways not possible with current manufacturing methods.
