Major Recruitment Drive at Granta Design Makes A Material Difference

Opportunities in engineering, science, software development, education, and sales

Cambridge-based engineering software company Granta Design Limited is on a major recruitment drive, creating more than 20 new jobs to build on its success worldwide. Granta helps engineers to understand and make smart decisions about the materials used to make manufactured products. Starting out as a Cambridge University spin-out, the company now employs more than 130 staff, mainly in Cambridge, but also in Germany, France, and the United States. The ‘Granta is Growing’ campaign aims to boost this number significantly, with new job opportunities being offered in engineering, product management, software development, sales, business development, and education.

Founded in 1994, Granta is now the global materials intelligence market leader, serving major organizations and universities such as NASA, Rolls-Royce, Airbus, Jaguar Land Rover, General Motors, Philips, Cambridge University, and TU Delft. Companies use Granta software to manage and apply vital information about their engineering materials, leading to better, greener, safer products. Over 1,000 universities and colleges worldwide teach the next generation of scientists, engineers, and designers using materials education resources from Granta and its network.

The company offers an attractive work environment where staff can thrive and develop, with a tailored induction plan, training and development opportunities, and great facilities, including its recently-refurbished headquarters in Clifton Road. It has a truly international feel, with a dynamic and diverse team from more than 30 countries, ranging from interns and graduates to professionals with decades of experience. Flexibility is a key principle, with lots of staff who have changed roles to develop their careers, and a supportive approach to working hours and part-time working. The common factors are a passion for delivering great products and services, a determination to succeed, and enjoying some fun together along the way.

Our success has always been based on people: starting with our founders, Professors Mike Ashby and David Cebon, who brought world-leading expertise into the company, and continuing with a concerted effort to build a great team. We are looking for talented people who want to be part of the next chapter.

Dr Patrick Coulter, Granta’s Chief Operating Officer
