CoorsTek Introduces New Company Specializing in Implantable Ceramic Components

Published on May 8, 2006 at 11:40 AM

CoorsTek has officially introduced C5 Medical Werks Inc., an entirely new and distinct subsidiary focused on manufacturing advanced ceramic implantable components. This new subsidiary serves implantable device manufacturers with biocompatible technical ceramic components.

C5 Medical Werks began as an entity in October, 2005 and has since worked to ensure all aspects of their operation are optimized for the special requirements of implant manufacturers. After substantial investment in staff, facility, equipment, and quality systems, the company is ready for business and, in fact, currently serves several customers. Their clean manufacturing environment houses the latest multi-axis CNC machining, turning, and finishing equipment, dry and isostatic presses, extruders, ceramic injection molders, and inspection equipment. They recently received certification to ISO-13485 by registrar BSI.

“We’ve made a substantial investment to ensure our operations compete on a global level,” stated C5 Medical Werks President, Brad Coors. “We fully expect to be the market leader in our chosen niche,” continued Coors. Drawing from CoorsTek’s nearly 100 years of experience in technical ceramics, C5 Medical Werks believes it is well suited to meet an emerging demand for long-term wear solutions in implantable components.

From prototyping to full-scale production, C5 Medical Werks serves medical implant design engineers with a full complement of manufacturing equipment, specially formulated ceramic materials, and a comprehensive quality system. Product lines include ceramic-on-ceramic hip replacement implants, ceramic spinal implants, ceramic dental implants, and other custom implant components.
