Kobe Steel Accelerate Plans to Combine Environmental Business

As reported on March 18 Kobe Steel and its subsidiary Shinko Pantec had planned to combine their environmental businesses. This move was to consolidate resources and strengthen their environmental business.

The consolidation was due to take place in January 2004, but after further discussions, they have brought the date forward to October 1 to take advantage of the combined business earlier.

The new entity will become known as Kobelco Eco-Solutions Co. Ltd. They will deal with areas such as solid waste incineration, waste water, PVC recycling and soil contamination.
