In the late 1930's three men formed a "job shop", manufacturing components and dehumidifiers out of sheet metal. The company name was Daly, Merritt, and Sullivan and was located in Falls Church, Virginia. Predominant market usage then was dehumidification of storage areas containing weapons and munitions, and in ships assigned to the "mothball" fleets for the U.S. Government. Mr. Merritt, in 1944 formed Desomatic Products Company, remaining in Falls Church, Virginia which manufactured space dehumidifiers along with other components used by the military and federal government.
