Viscosity Measurement and Control Equipment
Brookfield viscometers/rheometers have been the world standard in viscosity measurement and control of liquids and semi-solids for almost 80 years. Quality, affordability, ease of use, and customer service are just some of the reasons why manufacturers have continuously used Brookfield equipment in the QC and R&D departments. With a variety of models and accessories, Brookfield instrumentation plays a key role in almost any viscosity application.
Brookfield is also a leading manufacturer of texture analyzers/ testers for tension and compression testing. A variety of fixtures and probes enables the Brookfield Texture Analyzer to be used in such diverse industries as pharmaceuticals, packaging, food and more. Brookfield has recently launched a line of instrumentation for quick and easy analysis of powder flow behavior in industrial processing equipment.
Brookfield’s product line is used in the pharmaceutical, chemical, food, personal care products, petrochemical industry and other industries where quality control is an important part of the manufacturing process.
Brookfield manufactures and services a full range of viscometers and rheometers, texture analyzers, and powder flow testers. Additional services include: testing for viscosity, texture and powder properties, calibration and certification program, educational and training programs, custom fixture development and more.
Brookfield’s corporate headquarters is located in Middleboro, Massachusetts, USA, with subsidiaries located in Germany, the UK and China. Brookfield also has a world wide network of dealers/distributors providing local support with sales/service.
- Viscosityjournal.com site
Brookfield Engineering’s viscosityjournal.com is a free informational web site and resource dedicated to professionals in the viscosity and texture analysis marketplace.
The “RESOURCES” page features three informational resources:
- Viscosity of Materials Table
- Viscosity of Water Table
- Viscosity Calculator
This page also includes a guide on how to get the most out of your Brookfield Viscometer.
“Q&A” page is where members ask questions about their specific viscosity challenges. One of their experts then publish responses so all members can benefit.
“Viscosity Forum” features exclusive interviews and discussions with industry leaders and educators. Email notices provide information on upcoming live events to members who log-in to listen and participate. This site also features solutions for specific applications, industry articles, press releases and links to Brookfield products.
- Viscosity Testing Services
Brookfield’s state-of-the-art laboratory offers a variety of viscosity testing services capable of measuring Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids using a wide range of spindle geometries. Detailed test results include equipment and measurement system description, viscosity date that includes appropriate tables and graphs, and any recommendations pertinent to your specific material and associated method.
- Methodology Consulting Service
Brookfield engineering consultants are brought to your facility to review and recommend appropriate test methods for your materials. Our staff will work with you to define acceptable viscosity behavior taking into consideration relevant shear rates, shear stresses, temperature and time sensitivity issues.
- Calibration & Certification
The staff of Brookfield's Repair Department will inspect your instrument for wear, clean, adjust and lubricate the internal mechanisms, replace part of the sensing system element, and check your spindles. In addition, they will calibrate and certify in writing that your instrument is operating within proper
Brookfield specifications.
Brookfield technicians keep their Customers up and running to make life a lot easier for those customers who can’t afford to stop production to return their instruments to our facility for repair. Brookfield service technicians will visit your facility and have your instruments in top running order. Brookfield also has technicians at their facility that repair and calibrate several instruments per year.
- Brookfield’s popular practical course on viscosity measurement is a one-day course designed to help you get the most out of your Brookfield Viscometer and Rheometer measurements by providing you with information, activities and techniques that you can easily understand and use. Discussion topics include how to pick a spindle/speed combination as well as calibration and verification checks.
- Brookfield’s advanced applied course on viscosity test methods is also a one-day course offered in addition to the Practical Course. This course will take you beyond pass/fail criteria and onto an understanding of how to apply viscometric data as a problem solving and product performance/processing tool. Discussion topics include how Brookfield Rotational Viscometers and Rheometers can be used to provide meaningful analysis of your products.
- Texture Analyzer Testing and Analysis Practical Course
Brookfield’s practical course on Texture Testing and Analysis is a one-day course designed to help you get the most of your Brookfield CT-3 measurements by providing you with information, activities and techniques that you can easily understand and use. Discussion topics include how to choose the right accessory, important considerations in developing test methods, proper testing techniques, and calibration checks.
