Advanced Ceramic Machining Whilst Maintaining Perfect Mechanical Integrity

SCERAM CERAMICS specializes in high-precision technical ceramics machining, and machines technical ceramics in small, medium and large quantities. The company assists clients in molding all their advanced ceramic components as per their drawings and specifications and meets their most specific needs. SCERAM can machine all types of hard materials, such as Alumina, Sapphire, Macor, Zirconia, Quartz, glass, Boron Nitride, Silicon Nitride, Silicon Carbide, etc.

Low Stress Machining Process

A special machining method called a Low Stress Machining Process has been developed by SCERAM. This method inhibits the accumulation of internal stress within the material, and was specifically developed to keep the perfect mechanical integrity of materials. Figure 1 shows different types of ceramic parts.

Ceramic Raw Materials

SCERAM distributes a wide range of ceramic raw materials, particularly Macor™ (Corning glass). The company stocks a variety of products to respond to all of its clients’ requests and insure quick deliveries for different types of materials and shapes. SCERAM provides solutions to customers at the highest level of technology and keeps close contact with major research laboratories who are at the forefront of innovation in advanced ceramics.

The raw materials supplied by qualified producers are appraised by SCERAM according to ISO standards. These measures control the machining process and help ensure product traceability. Under the last phase of verification, the dimensional control is performed using high-precision instruments.

Depending on work environment, usage constraints, specifications, and the desired characteristics, SCERAM helps its clients in selecting the most suitable material for their desired applications. From planning to delivery stage, the SCERAM team defines the exact nature of clients’ requirements, such as strength, shape characteristics, electrical resistance, chemical resistance, and temperature behavior.

Last Generation Tools

SCERAM creates dimensional control reports with last generation tools, such as an electronic microscope (Vison Hawk), Tri-dimensional control device (TESA), Zigloo system for cracks detection, and a roughness meter by Mitutoyo UK Ltd.

SCERAM provides advanced ceramic machining solutions and helps in shaping prototypes, small, medium and large series that meet specific application needs. SCERAM is an ISO 9001 certified company and is an approved dealer of companies such as CERN, AREVA, Alstom, Saint Gobain, Rolls Royce Nuclear, Siemens, Chanel, and Schneider Electric, amongt others.
