For a long time, dairy product consumers have preferred single-serve snack cheeses as their favorite choice. Besides serving as a great source of protein, they are also an easy snack to have on the fly. The individual packaging also helps to ensure a healthy and consistent serving size.

Visual inspection — either while shaping the cheese or while cutting the cheese into its serving size or applying packaging around the final product — is crucial for snack cheese producers for quality assurance. The size, shape and color of the product and the presence of any defects are all vital inspection parameters while processing snack cheese.

Several operations involve placing employees on the production line for visual inspection of each snack as it passes through. Yet, this can be a time-consuming and expensive process in the long run.
