Overview

The TMA 801 operates in a vertical orientation, making it ideal for the analysis of sintering, RCS (rate controlled sintering), viscoelastic behavior and the determination of softening temperatures. The linear motor generates a constant throughout the experiment, ensuring that contact is maintained with the sample regardless of dimension change.

The motor can also apply a dynamic force and viscoelastic properties may be determined. Both compressive forces and tensile forces of 0 – 2.5 N can be generated. The high resolution inductive sensor (LVDT) ensures the best sensitivity to small dimensional changes.The TMA801 can be operated under inert gas, vacuum and air within a temperature range of Room Temperature to 1700°C.

Measuring Principle

The TMA 801 operates in a vertical measuring orientation, making it ideal for the analysis of sintering, RCS (rate controlled sintering), viscoelastic behavior and the determination of softening temperatures. A constant programmable force is applied to the sample throughout the experiment, ensuring that contact is maintained with the sample regardless of dimension change. The contact force can also be applied in a dynamic fashion, permitting the determination of viscoelastic properties. Both compressive forces and tensile forces of 0 – 2.5 N can be generated. Extremely high sensitivity to small dimensional changes is accomplished by the use of a high resolution LVDT.

The vertical measurement configuration is especially well-suited for high temperature measurements. While horizontally configured dilatometers may sag over long times at high temperatures, the vertical orientation prevents this deformation, extending the service life of consumable items such as furnace tubes and pushrods

Sample Environment

Recognizing the importance of sample environment to many processes, the TMA801 can operate under inert gas, vacuum and air. The system is extremely versatile within a temperature range of Room Temperature to 1700°C.

Measuring Systems

Measuring systems are available in several materials including fused silica, Al2O3, sapphire, graphite and tungsten. The measuring systems are also available in various forms, bend bearings and gripping devices. Extremely high accuracy temperature measurement is carried out with thermocouples (type K, S, B, C) and radiation pyrometers. Absolute accuracy is ensured and verified with the use of certified reference materials for the calibration of the equipment.
