Peripheral arteries have higher bending, stretching and twisting motions when compared to coronary arteries so stents placed in peripheral arteries undergo higher stresses and strains. The ElectroForce® 9400 multi-axis peripheral stent (MAPS) test instrument was developed for stent applications in peripheral arteries. The complicated loading that stents experience in the peripheral instrument is simulated by this programmable instrument. These include the carotid arteries, the renal arteries, and the femoral-popliteal arteries.
