Multi-Axis Peripheral Stent (MAPS) Test Instrument for BioMedical Applications - TA ElectroForce 9400

Peripheral arteries have higher bending, stretching and twisting motions when compared to coronary arteries so stents placed in peripheral arteries undergo higher stresses and strains. The ElectroForce® 9400 multi-axis peripheral stent (MAPS) test instrument was developed for stent applications in peripheral arteries. The complicated loading that stents experience in the peripheral instrument is simulated by this programmable instrument. These include the carotid arteries, the renal arteries, and the femoral-popliteal arteries.

Key Features

The key features of the ElectroForce Peripheral Stent Test Instrument are:

  • Multi-mode capability -- Simulates the necessary displacements simultaneously to replicate in vivo conditions
  • Replicates demanding displacements required for the superficial femoral artery (SFA) stents and coronary artery stents
  • Also capable of accelerated 10-year life testing, or performing fatigue to fracture studies
