ASD-Px Ultra Precision Air Bearing Tool Spindles from Levicron

The ASD-Px ultra precision air bearing work-holding spindles (workpiece spindles) are designed to handle ultra precision turning and flycutting applications with speeds of up to 10000 rpm, and is based on a worldwide patented bearing technology.

The ultra precision air bearing work-holding spindles are equipped with ultra-low vibration iron-less synchronous motor that offers 6Nm torque (Si). The work-holding options are face plate, vacuum chuck and zero-point clamping chuck.

There is a rotary feed-through for vacuum and pressurized air. The cartridge design is meant for closed head stocks and the cartridge system is service friendly. ASD-Px ultra precision air bearing work-holding spindles are the most accurate, robust and thermally stable work-holding spindles on the market.

  • Spindle soak time < 8 min (from cold to 10000 rpm)
  • Encoder options (up to 3 encoders can be installed): 1VSS SinCos optical encoder system, 11.800 lines + zero flag; alternative absolute positioning encoder system with BISS(2)-interface, 26 bit resolution; 1 VSS SinCos GMR encoder system with 253 lines + zero flag
  • Optional with zero-point clamping system
  • Radial load capacity: >1.800N
  • Axial load capacity: >2.200N
  • Radial stiffness: >220N
