The GemRam™ is a lightweight, portable Raman spectrometer that is designed to handle the verification of known gemstones as well as the identification of unknown gemstones. It is equipped with B&W Tek’s GemID™ identification software, powered by GemExpert’s spectral library of more than 450 different gemstones, as well as unrestricted space for user-defined spectra that can be incorporated at any time.
The GemRam utilizes a spectrum stabilized 785 nm diode laser and high resolution TE cooled spectrometer to provide unparalleled performance and repeatability. It is provided with a fiber optic probe and X-Y-Z positioning stage, and packaged in a convenient carrying case.

The B&W Tek's GemID identification software allows users to navigate their GemRam™ Raman spectrometer using easy-to-use icons and instructions. The users can easily choose to verify a known gemstone or identify an unknown gemstone by measuring the gemstone’s spectrum, then comparing it with that of the GemExpert library found in the software.
Users can also view the general spectra and results of the measurement independent of the library, or add an unrestricted amount of spectra to the library to use for comparisons in the future.
The B&W Tek's exclusive GemID identification software, preloaded in every GemRam™, is powered by GemExpert's spectral library of over 450 different gemstones.
The library comprises of gemstone images and spectra for all classes, including: carbonates, borates, native elements, halides, oxides, silicates, phosphates, sulfates, and sulfides. Different types of gemstones worldwide are also available in the GemExpert library.
