Dyson Technical Ceramics™ Isostatically Pressed Alumina Crucibles are designed to provide resistance to high temperatures, while maintaining excellent erosion resistance. Dyson Technical Ceramics manufactures a variety of crucibles based on alumina.

Alumina Crucibles – for Air and Induction Melting Applications

Applications include the melting of:

  • Palladium
  • Basic carbon steel and its alloys
  • Stainless steel
  • Nickel and cobalt based alloys

Dyson’s Pressed Alumina Crucibles – Product Range

ISO-Alumina A97

This iso-pressed and high fired alumina offers excellent abrasion resistance. Frequently used in the melting of palladium, basic carbon steel and its alloys, and stainless steel.

ISO-Alumina Mullite AM88

This iso-pressed and high fired alumina offers good abrasion resistance and improved thermal shock resistance when compared to high alumina. It is used in the melting of basic carbon steels, where thermal stress is a problem.

Introducing: ISO-AZ76 Zirconia enriched Alumina

Closing the gap between alumina and zirconia, the AZ76 provides excellent erosion resistance to high alumina and a cost-effective alternative to zirconia. Besides this, the AZ76 is also being used as an alternative to chrome alumina, avoiding health and safety as well as environmental issues with that material. The ISO-AZ76 offers a variety of applications, which include:

  • Alloy steels
  • Glass
  • Nickel and cobalt based super alloys
  • Basic carbon steel and its alloys

Dyson's Crucible Sizes

The table below offers a list of common crucible sizes. Crucible sizes will differ depending on composition choice, because of shrinkage during sintering. While all zirconia crucibles are similar in size, alumina crucible may be up to 3.5% larger than the dimensions quoted below.
