Bruker’s TI 950 TriboIndenter

The Hysitron TI 950 TriboIndenter nanoindenter has been developed by Bruker to work alongside the numerous nanomechanical and nanotribological characterization techniques that they have developed.  The TI950 is an automated, high throughput nanoindenter system. It is driven by the powerful  performech® I Advanced Control Module, which greatly improves the precision of feedback-controlled nanomechanical testing, enables dual head testing capability for nano/micro scale connectivity, and offers peerless noise floor performance.

Bruker already offers numerous nanomechanical testing techniques, and are at the same time developing more, positioning the HysitronTI 950 TriboIndenter as one of the most versatile and effective nanomechanical characterization tools over the broadest possible range of applications.

Superior Control and Sensitivity

With Bruker’s performance-leading feedback control algorithms working in tandem with exceptional measurement sensitivity, precise control is guaranteed for all Hysitron nanomechanical testing techniques. Each of the feedback control functionalities on the Hysitron TI 950 is performed by a dedicated digital-signal processor (DSP) and field-programmable gate array (FPGA) embedded control system to ensure that every user input is accurately followed.

Capacitive Transducer Technology

Bruker’s patented capacitive transducer technology enables unparalleled sensitivity (<30 nN, <0.2 nm), accuracy, and reliability of measurement throughout the nanoindentation process. With the superior drift characteristics that result from the lower current use of electrostatic actuation, data acquisition is faster, more accurate, and has better repeatability.

High-Resolution Optics with In-Situ SPM Imaging

The Hysitron TI 950 TriboIndenter has a built in color CCD camera with top-down optics for high magnification and visual observation of sample surfaces and increased control over the selection of testing locations. In-situ SPM imaging can be used to refine the probe position to within ±10 nm, allowing even greater precision in probe placement. With the dual imaging modes provided by the Hysitron TI 950, the probe can be positioned with high precision to make full use of the applications for which it is used.
