As flagship of Columbia Metals’ alloy range, NIBRON SPECIAL® is an outstanding engineering material that has been specifically designed to provide users with exceptionally high performing engineering properties that are typically not found in other alloys.

As one of the highest strength copper alloys currently available on the market today, NIBRON SPECIAL® also exhibits high ductility properties. With these superb properties combined with excellent corrosion resistance in both marine environments and a large range of aggressive industrial media, this material has become an ideal choice in numerous demanding applications.

NIBRON SPECIAL® is also resistant to hydrogen embrittlement, stress corrosion cracking and attack by both pitting and crevice processes. With consistent strength that is maintained at high temperatures of up to 250oC, this unique material is also resistant to embrittlement when present at sub-zero temperatures. These resistance properties further extend to remain tough against high wear while simultaneously maintaining good anti-galling characteristics in many applications.

Although it is harder than normal bronzes, NIBRON SPECIAL® material can be easily machinable, thereby allowing this material to be versatile for a wide variety of demanding applications. Some of these applications include high strength bolting and critical subsea components that are used in aggressive offshore environments, hydraulic components, landing gear bushes and many other critical engineering components.
